Kier buys Partnerships First from Belan

Kier has bought Partnerships First, the social housing developer, from its parent Belan.

Kier has made the acquisition in exchange for its 49% stake in Belan. The acquired business will be run in conjunction with Kier's existing social housing business to form Kier Partnership Homes.

The division will have a projected turnover of around £70m and will operate from four offices in Dorking, Bristol, Aldridge near Birmingham, and Southampton.

Kier Regional chairman Martin Scarth will chair the new business. The other directors will be Nigel Meek and Malcolm Mintram from Kier's existing social housing business, and Mike Lewis, Steve Putman and David Hodson from Partnerships First.

Belan will now concentrate on its Torwood timber frame manufacturing business.
